Over, under, sideways, down

And all around the blogosphere . . . . a little of my own horn-tooting and kicking up my heels.
Grand Rounds 4:10 is up and running at Prudence M.D. I know what I’ll be reading this evening with my cup of fresh hot chai. Thank you for my inclusion with such esteemed company, Prudence.
SurgeXperiences, “the one and only surgical blog carnival in the medical blogosphere,” has some cutting edge (pun intended) commentary and articles submitted. For this 9th edition, it is being hosted at Monash Medical Student. I live one third of my life in the surgical world - I love this stuff! Thanks, Jeffrey, for including me.
Oh, happy day. I’ve been linked to in U.S. News & World Report! Writer Avery Comarow blogs about a wide variety of interesting aspects of medicine, (he is also the editor of America’s Best Hospitals annual rankings), and he has kindly linked to my blog among his favorites. This man’s commentary is filled with engaging reading, as he portrays the “human” side of our medical world. I hope you will visit his blog - I think you’ll enjoy it.

Tag, you’re it! Okay, I’ve been tagged today (for the very first time since I played tag as a kid) by Billy Bob, the liver, and what this requires of me is to list (in no particular order) 7 random/weird things about ME, and then tag 6 other people.
- I work at the same hospital at which I was born. My husband was born there too, and my sister, and two of my very dear friends. My mother-in-law died there, sadly. I also went to nursing school at said hospital, and I’ve worked at this hospital for the greater part of my illustrious career. Now that is weird!
- I can rattle off the names of all fifty states in alphabetical order, in less than 30 seconds (Guiness, are you listening?)
- After I drink coffee, I can feel the blood moving through my veins; I only drink tea.
- I hate almost all science fiction, but I absolutely love Lord of the Rings (books & movie & music).
- I am L.I. - lactose intolerant. Bummer.
- I hiked over 70 mountains and over 250 miles on the Appalachian Trail as a gift to myself after I graduated nursing school and before I started my very first nursing job.
- I also run a website and forum for all nurses called everydaynurses.com. It’s a place to unwind and talk nurse to nurse. Think virtual coffee break. What better place for nurses to share their common bonds? Join the party; registration is free.
Okay, that was fun! And now, let the following bloggers be tagged! Robert and Janette, Paul, Barbara, Raven, hotelrehab, and Jennifer.

thanks for the shout out! much appreciated.
You write a great blog and deserve all the links, and mentions, and honors you get. Congrats! And thanks for the tag (really).
Thanks for linking the GR post!
Wow, you’ve hiked over 70 mountains already?! You’re one athletic person. Also, I understand why you feel weird about working in the hospital where you were born. I used to work in a hospital which was built on a land that was formerly my grandmother’s and where our old house was before it was sold.
Very cool on the mention in US News & World Report. We’ll definitely take a read through that blog. And assignment accepted: 7 randoms on the way
Thanks! Here comes my seven random things…come on over and check them out.
You love Lord of the Rings but hate Science Fiction. Since technically Lord of the Rings isn’t Sci-Fiction it is Fantasy. Do you like Fantasy?
Not all fantasy, Janette. But I did find LOTR quite magical. I read it three times in my twenties alone. It hit all the right spots.
